The culture of Yeola city has recognized and accepted the importance of co-operation since ancient times. When the hands of co-operation came together, an immense strength was forged, which ultimately led to the establishment of The Yeola Merchants Co-operative Bank Ltd. — a pioneer institution that seeded the entire urban co-operative banking movement across Nashik district.

Established to revive Yeola's trade and industry after the weaving industry's decline. Yeola was the very first city in Nashik district to open a co-operative bank — sowing seeds for the entire district's urban co-operative banking ecosystem.
Construction of the bank's own building was completed in 1978, giving the institution a permanent home and symbol of stability for the community it served.
The bank building was formally inaugurated on May 12, 1979 at the hands of the then Foreign Minister and national leader, the Honourable Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee — a proud moment for Yeola and its co-operative spirit.
For the year 2011–12, the bank received the Padmabhushan Late Vasantdada Patil Award for Best Urban Co-operative Bank from The Maharashtra State Co-operative Banks Association.
The late Shri Vaikunthlal Mehta (Sahakar Maharshi) worked tirelessly day and night toward the establishment of The Yeola Merchants Co-operative Bank. The bank was built through his inspiration and the sheer determination of the local merchants. Special mention must be made of its primary founders:
